Inventory Product Type Usage and Purpose

Assembly
  • Use this type to identify items that will later generate/produce finished goods for sale or internal use
  • Items marked as Assembly cannot be ordered on a purchase order but can be dispensed or sold
  • Raw Material and Inventory Type are used as materials for an assembly


Raw Material
  • Used by assembly type items to product finished goods. These types can be included on a purchase order but cannot be used to dispense internally or sell
  • Use Inventory Type instead or Raw Material Type if you need to include in assemblies, dispense and/or sell

Inventory
  • Regular Inventory items which can be used on document types: Request from Inventory, Warehouse Transfer, Sales Order, and Purchase Orders
