How to Set Up California Overtime Rules

Step 1: Create Overtime Codes in Abila Payroll Module
Create the following four OT codes with their respective rate multipliers:
  • OTDay – Rate Multiplier: 1.5
  • OTWeek – Rate Multiplier: 1.5
  • OT7Day – Rate Multiplier: 1.5
  • OTDbl – Rate Multiplier: 2.0

Step 2: Configure Microix Timesheet Options
Microix Overtime Setup
  1. OTDay Rule
    • Set to 8 hours per day.
    • Any time over 12 hours will automatically apply double time using the OTDbl code (as specified in setup).
  2. OTWeek Rule
    • Set to 40 hours per week.
  3. OT7Day Rule
    • Set to California rule with 8 hours per day.
    • Time over 12 hours will also apply double time using OTDbl.
  4. Assign OT Codes to Eligible Employees
    • Navigate to:
      Timesheet tab > Setup > Employee Default Value
    • Assign the appropriate OT codes to each eligible staff member.
