Why Microix Displays "Private" for Vendor Addresses

🧾 Overview

Microix may display the word “Private” instead of a vendor’s address when the vendor record is associated with a Social Security Number (SSN).
This behavior is intentional — Microix automatically treats any vendor with an SSN as a potential employee vendor, and hides their address information to protect personally identifiable information (PII).

Understanding the Logic

By default, Microix determines whether a vendor is considered an employee vendor by examining the vendor’s Tax ID Type.
This logic is controlled by the Global Setting (GSID 11), which is typically set to sTaxIDType.

  • When sTaxIDType is used, any vendor with a Social Security Number will have their address replaced with “Private.”

  • This helps ensure compliance with privacy standards and prevents accidental disclosure of employee vendor information.

âś… Option 1: Display All Vendor Addresses

If your organization does not need to hide vendor addresses (for example, if you don’t setup employees as vendors):

  1. Go to Global Settings.

  2. Locate GSID 11.

  3. Change the value from sTaxIDType to either sClass or sType.

đź’ˇ This disables the SSN-based privacy rule and displays all vendor addresses.

🧑‍💼 Option 2: Hide Only Employee Vendor Addresses

If you need to hide addresses only for vendors who are employees:

  1. In Global Settings, change GSID 11 from sTaxIDType to sClass or sType.

  2. In MIP Accounting, open Vendor Maintenance.

  3. For vendors whose addresses should remain hidden, set the Class or Type field to “Employee.”

  4. All other vendors will continue to display their addresses normally.

💡 This approach provides flexibility — only vendors tagged as “Employee” will be treated as private.

⚠️ Important

Make sure your GSID 11 configuration matches the field where “Employee” is stored (Class or Type) so Microix enforces privacy correctly.
