Rounding Behavior with Multi-Line Distribution Codes

ℹ️ Overview

When transactions that include multi-line distribution codes are transferred from Microix to MIP, minor rounding variances may occur. This behavior is expected and results from differences in decimal precision between the two systems.

Applies to:
Microix → MIP transfers (API, CD, JV and Encumbrance)

⚠️ Why This Happens

  • Microix supports higher decimal precision.

  • MIP limits monetary values to two decimal places.

When each distribution line is rounded to two decimal places during transfer, small variances can occur when the individual line amounts are summed.

🔄 How Microix Handles Rounding

To maintain financial accuracy during the transfer process:

  • Microix automatically adjusts one transaction line to absorb any rounding variance.

  • The total of all transaction lines will always equal the original document amount.

  • One line may reflect a minor adjustment to account for the precision difference.

This ensures compliance with MIP’s decimal limitations while preserving transaction integrity.

🛠️ Required Action for Higher Precision

If greater precision is required for reporting, reconciliation, or audit purposes:

  1. Open the unposted transaction in MIP.

  2. Manually adjust the decimal values as needed.

  3. Verify totals and post the transaction.

Once a transaction is posted, it can no longer be edited.

✅ Key Takeaway

Rounding adjustments are normal and expected when using multi-line distribution codes in Microix-to-MIP transfers. These adjustments ensure accurate totals despite system precision differences.
