How to Install the Latest Update for Microix Workflow Modules Modern

About Upgrade Notification
When a new version of Microix Workflow Modules Modern is available, the application displays an Update Available notification within the application. This notification is broadcast to all users, indicating that a newer version is available.
Note: The Update Available notification does not automatically install the update. An administrator must manually perform the installation by following the procedure described in this article.
Important: This article applies only to customers with self-hosted Microix Workflow Modules Modern environments. Customers hosted in the MIP Cloud do not need to install updates, as updates are managed by MIP\Microix.
Overview
This article explains how to install the latest update for Microix Workflow Modules Modern. The update process typically requires 10–15 minutes of downtime per database. During the upgrade, the website will be temporarily unavailable and will automatically come back online when the update is complete.
MIP Fund Accounting is not affected by this process. Users can continue working in MIP Fund Accounting throughout the update process. Only the Workflow Modules Modern web application will be unavailable during the installation.
Before You Begin
Review the following prerequisites before installing the update:
- Schedule the update outside of business hours whenever possible. Installing updates while users are actively using the system is not recommended.
- If the update must be performed during business hours while users are logged in, verify with the accounting department that no documents are currently being transferred to MIP.
- Customers with complex installations, including:
- Custom connection strings
- DMZ deployments
- Other advanced configurations
should not perform the update without assistance from Microix Support. Contact modern@microix.net before proceeding.
Installation Procedure
- Log on to the IIS Web Server hosting Microix Workflow Modules Modern.
- Navigate to: C:\Program Files\Microix\Workflow Modules Server
- Right-click MicroixModernServer.exe and select Run as administrator.
- Click Connect.
- Verify that the action displayed is Upgrade Existing Modern Database.
- Important: Do not proceed if Upgrade Existing Modern Database is not selected. Stop the installation and contact Microix Support before continuing.
- Verify that the Script Path is set to Upgrade. If it is not already selected, choose Upgrade from the list.
- Click Start to begin the upgrade.
- Monitor the Status section. This area displays the progress of the upgrade and provides confirmation when the process has completed successfully.
Post-Installation Verification
After the installation:
- Confirm the website is accessible.
- Verify users can successfully log in.
- If any errors occur or the website does not return online after the upgrade, contact Microix Support at modern@microix.net before attempting additional troubleshooting.
