Inventory Item Unit of Measure Changes in Modern

Overview

In the Classic version of Microix, a single inventory SKU (Item Number) could be configured with multiple Units of Measure (UOM).

In Microix Workflow Modules Modern, each inventory SKU must have one unique Unit of Measure. A single Item Number can no longer be associated with multiple UOMs.

This change improves the accuracy and consistency of inventory quantity tracking, ensuring that quantities received, issued, transferred, and reported are always associated with a clearly defined unit of measure.

Vendor Item No/UOM Tab

The Vendor Item No/UOM tab will continue to be available in Modern. However, the Purchase UOM and Package Qty will follow the values defined on the Item Master record and will not be used to establish alternate Units of Measure for the same Microix Item Number.

You can continue to use this section to identify:

• Additional vendors from whom the item may be purchased.
• The vendor-specific SKU or Item Number used by each vendor.
• Alternate vendor sources for the same Microix inventory item.

This allows Microix to maintain a single, consistent inventory UOM while still supporting multiple vendors and their individual SKU numbers.

Important: If the same physical item is purchased or stocked using different Units of Measure, each UOM must be created as a separate Microix Item Number.

What You Need to Do Before Upgrading

If your existing Classic inventory contains an Item Number with multiple Units of Measure, you will need to create a separate Item Number for each UOM that you intend to continue using in Modern.

For example, if Item PAPER001 is currently available as EA, BOX, and CASE, you will need three unique Item Numbers in Modern.

Why This Changed

Requiring a unique Item Number and UOM combination allows Microix to manage inventory quantities more accurately. It eliminates ambiguity when determining the quantity on hand and provides more consistent results when items are:

• Purchased
• Received
• Issued
• Transferred between locations
• Counted
• Reported

Before upgrading from Classic to Modern, review your inventory items for multiple UOM assignments and create the necessary unique Item Numbers.
