Implementation Guidelines

Below are recommended guidelines for setting up a new installation of Abila MIP Fund Accounting and the Microix system: MIP must be implemented first before starting Microix Services

  • MIP Database Field Lengths:
When setting up a new MIP Fund Accounting database, do not reduce the default field lengths. You can increase them if necessary. However, Microix only supports segment codes with a maximum of 20 characters.
  • Distribution Code ID Requirements:
If used, the Distribution Code ID must be longer than the Employee ID and should not exceed 60 characters. Ideally, it should be at least one character longer to support custom “X distribution codes” for the Timesheet Module. If this setup isn't possible, alternative solutions are available.
  • Payroll Codes Field Length:
If used, the payroll earning and leave code fields should be no longer than 25 characters, and the Payroll ID must not exceed 20 characters.
  • Payroll Module Requirement:
The MIP Payroll Module is required to use Microix Timesheets.
    • Before implementing the Microix Timesheet Module, the following setup must be completed in the MIP Payroll Module:
      • Earning codes
      • Leave codes
      • Processing groups and pay schedules
      • Employee records
      • Default timesheet
  • Accounts Payable/Encumbrance Modules:
These are required when implementing the Microix Requisition Module.
    • Before implementing the Microix Requisition Module, complete the following in MIP Fund Accounting:
      • Vendors
      • Chart of Accounts
  • Budget Module Use:
The MIP Budget Module is not required for the Microix Requisition Module. However, if you require a budget version other than “Original” or “Revised,” the Abila MIP Budget Module will be necessary.
    • Before implementing the Microix Budget Module, complete the following in MIP Fund Accounting:
      • Chart of Accounts
      • Historical data (if applicable)
  • Fund Accounting Updates:
Ensure that all MIP Fund Accounting updates are installed before installing or upgrading any Microix Workflow Modules.
